I mainly publish non-fiction, because other New Zealand publishers have fiction pretty much covered. However, I have bent the rules when, unsolicited, I've been sent a really good manuscript, such as Sam Mahon's HOW TO PAINT A NUDE, and Michael Jackson's OUTLIERS. 

I don't publish children's books - too difficult. Many people think they can write for children; few can. 

I'm obsessed with really good photography, by that I mean arresting images you want to return to over and over. Art and photography books are hugely expensive to publish in a manner appropriate to the photographers' art and skill.

I'm not interested in misery memoirs.

So if you do have an idea burning inside email me about it, but don't send multiple submissions - ie to multiple publishers. It wastes all our time. I promise to reply (in between my waitressing jobs).
